Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

This past weekend, my family came down to Harrisburg for the weekend to check out the #FXFamily Open House that my company hosted on Friday to celebrate the opening of our second building. My grandmother (Meme as we call her) decided to stay on our futon for the weekend and take on the town with me.

From the time I started working and making my own money, Meme and I’s ‘thing’ has been lunch dates. After years of being spoiled my grandfather, she has developed some very particular and expensive tastes so she was so excited to come check out Harrisburg which has a significantly better selection of restaurants to choose from than the ones she frequents back in Williamsport.

While we may have spent our Saturday drinking wine slushies at Spring Gate and eating the world’s most ridiculous mint ravioli at the Greystone, most of my fond memories of Meme come from my childhood.

One of my favorite ‘food preferences’ that I picked up from Meme is my love for a slice of good, homemade banana bread heated up with a little bit of butter spread on top. Now, I don’t know if she ever made the bread from scratch and I grew up strictly on I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, but you get the idea. I love making crazy recipes but they will never beat a warm slice of banana bread with butter.

Now, this obviously isn’t a plain old banana bread recipe, but it does give you a good excuse to eat something this ridiculous before 8 AM. What really puts this bread over the top is the ridiculous cream cheese frosting. I may be biased due to the fact that cream cheese frosting is arguably my favorite frosting, but I promise that you won’t be able to have just one slice.
